I will never shop at that store ever!!!

i thought this was a joke but

no

and even if it were

it still wouldn’t matter

Spread it around, Tumblr!

I heard about this a while back on Reddit; I still can’t believe it.

The “burning clothes” thing is just the unsurprising cherry on top. Also remember when they fired a woman from one of their stores because she had a prosthetic limb?

What the hell?

I’m saddened by their elitism.

Touche of the Day: Mrs. Doubtfire’s Dress vs. Kim Kardashian’s Dress

Comedian Robin Williams chimed in on Kim Kardashian’s custom-designed Riccardo Tisci evening gown by comparing it to the floral dress he wore in the 1993 comedy film Mrs. Doubtfire. The socialite’s attire became quite a hit during Monday’s Met Gala, spawning a series of photoshopped images poking fun at the reality star’s “sofa slipcover”-like dress.

Kolam is a rangoli traditionally composed of geometric lines and shapes, drawn around a grid pattern of dots. It is drawn by south Indian women with rice or chalk powder in front of their homes.

Amazing Floor Art.

“Shulgin’s Dream.” Acrylic. 20x24 inches.

I’m rather proud of this piece because it’s essentially my first serious non-digital painting. I worked on this painting, through an experimental process of trial and error, on and off for about 6 months. I learned so much while painting this. An interesting thing about the piece is that I worked on it almost exclusively in the company of others painting along side me, only painting alone a few times.

The artwork came about through an entirely subconscious process similar to the way many Surrealists such as Max Ernst would paint. I contemplated the piece for about an hour after finishing it, trying to see what meaning I could find in it and, as with all transformative art, see what I could discover about myself through the subconscious imagery. What the image represents to me is a fear of letting go of the ego. It’s the unsettlingly immensity of the experience of ego death. Eventually there is relief and joy, but at first the ego clings as tightly as possible to it’s small identity, afraid to let go of everything that defines you as an individual. To relinquish the ego is to relinquish self-identity. It is to die of the self and reconnect with the selfless.

A friend of mine said what the piece meant to him was the struggle of realizing an internal vision. That is a fitting assessment given the experimental process of it’s creation. In the end, I felt that “Shulgin’s Dream,” a tribute to the great psychedelic chemist Sasha Shulgin, was a fitting title, given the ambiguous and very psychedelic nature of the artwork.

I hope you enjoy, and please share if this artwork resonates with you.

On Saturday, NY saw its first direct action against the fracking industry. The successful demonstration (of 150+ humans), organized by the Shaleshock Direct Action Working Group, managed to shut down Schlumberger’s Horseheads facility for a solid five hours. No arrests were made, but our message was clear nonetheless: If Governor Cuomo tries to frack with our water, we will be there to block him with our bodies.

frack off! leave nys be, we hate you
